The San Diego Institute of Technology is not currently accredited. We are actively pursuing accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) and are committed to full transparency about our status at every stage of that process.
Current Accreditation Status
SDIT is a newly established nonprofit institution that is currently in the process of pursuing accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), 985 Atlantic Avenue, Suite 100, Alameda, CA 94501, (510) 748-9001.
At this time, SDIT has not achieved candidate or accredited status. We are in the institutional development phase — building the academic programs, governance structures, faculty relationships, and operational foundations required to apply for WSCUC candidacy.
What This Means for Students
We believe prospective students deserve full transparency before making any educational decisions. As an unaccredited institution, the following applies:
- Federal financial aid (Title IV): Students enrolled at SDIT are not currently eligible for federal financial aid programs, including Pell Grants, federal student loans, or work-study funding.
- Credit transferability: Academic credits earned at SDIT may not be accepted in transfer by other institutions. Students who plan to transfer credits should verify transfer policies directly with their target institution.
- Degree recognition: Degrees and credentials awarded by SDIT may not be recognized by employers, licensing boards, or other educational institutions in the same manner as degrees from regionally accredited institutions.
- State authorization: SDIT is working to comply with all applicable California state authorization requirements for degree-granting institutions.
We share this information not to discourage enrollment, but because integrity demands it. Our curriculum is open-source and available to all — and we encourage everyone to evaluate it on its merits.

Our Accreditation Roadmap
Accreditation is a multi-year institutional development process. SDIT is committed to pursuing it with integrity — building an institution that earns accreditation rather than simply seeking it. Our roadmap includes the following milestones:
- Institution established — 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated, EIN 39-2954006 obtained. Complete.
- Curriculum development — Open-source academic programs developed and made publicly available on GitHub for peer review and community contribution.
- Governance and faculty — Establishing board governance, academic advisory structures, and faculty relationships consistent with WSCUC standards.
- WSCUC Eligibility application — Submitting a formal application to establish eligibility as a WSCUC candidate institution.
- Candidacy status — Completing the WSCUC candidacy review process.
- Initial accreditation — Achieving initial accreditation following a comprehensive institutional review.
We will update this page as we progress through each stage.
