One button between you and deep work.

Focus is a discipline timer. Press start, watch a calm countdown toward your daily goal, and build the hours up over time — toward a reward you choose. Discipline over motivation, accountability without the guilt trip.

A timer that gets you out of the app.

One button. A calm countdown. Hours that compound.

Set a daily goal. Press start. Work. That is the whole app. There are no accounts, no streak-shaming, no notifications begging you back, and no feed — the entire design exists to put you back into your work, not to keep you inside the software. Sessions are structured around real cognitive limits, and a daily intention puts one clear priority in front of you before the phone has a chance to take over.

Attention is the scarcest resource of the age.

The modern phone is engineered by some of the best-funded teams in history to pull your attention away from what matters. Focus is the counter-instrument.

The Institute holds that a person should command the machine, not be commanded by it — and command begins with attention. Deep work is where judgment, craft, and real skill are formed; it is also the first thing the attention economy takes. A tool for getting it back, with no motive to keep you looking at it, is the most basic instrument we could think to build. So it was the first.
